Vol. 2, Issue 1 : Spit Blood
Brutal mosh pit mash-up. The evolution of slam dancing and the mosh pit, to the wall of death. An expression of dance or an outlet for pent-up aggression? Violence evloves from push and shove to swinging punches. Head first stage dives, and all out mob beatings. With each generation it gets more extreme and more extreme. Spit blood and get back in the pit!
The devastation war brings is no laughing matter, yet during times of chaos and destruction a little laughter can go a long way to help restore faith and hope in the world. Charlie Chaplin's satire film 'The Great Dictator' released during World War II did just that. Chaplin's final speech at the end of the film reminds us, "You, the people, have the power", and as long as there are dictators and greed in the world, we must use that power to free the world." Let us fight for a new world. Let us fight to free the world."
From both an earnest and satire point of view, this is our tribute to WWII vets and survivors. It is also our salute to Winston Churchill for his courage and encouragement to fight for freedom. And our thanks to Iron Maiden for pointing out the importance of history to us.
Vol. 2, Issue 3 : Witch
Psychic powers and a display of black magic are traits of a witch. In the early days witches were burned at the stake. It was better to be possessed by demons, than to be considered a witch. Demons can be cast out by religion, but witches must be burned to rid the world of them. And so it is better to be possessed by demons than to be a witch. God, please make me not a witch.
Cryonics may seem like a rational solution to escape death. But, if life lives in the soul and not the flesh, then bringing the flesh back to life may not produce the desired results. Some cultures beleive the flesh must be destroyed, either by natural decay or cremation, before the soul is completly freed. This theory may bring comfort to one considering cryonics, and questions the connection between flesh and soul. However, the question of the souls state of consciousness during the cryogenic phase may be quite terrifying. We do not recommend freezing the dead.
Vol. 2, Issue 5 : Black Widow
Aileen Wuornos, a by product of the evil side of humanity or legitimately criminally insane? After killing 7 men over a 2 year period, her defense never was insanity, but rather self defense. While working as a prostitute, she shot 7 men at point blank range because, she claimed they either raped her, or attempted to. Aileen Wuornos' criminal records and interviews paint a disturbing picture of an individual so mentally scarred that killing is easily rationalized. In her mind, killing has become so rational that in her own words, she says "You must kill Aileen Wuornos, or I'lll kill again." Sounds crazy to me, but I'm not the judge. What is the difference between crimally insane and insane? Circumstance?
